The Montefeltro Altarpiece is a painting by Piero della Francesca, located in Milan’s Pinacoteca di Brera. This artwork was originally completed in 1472-1474, and was deposited to the pinacoteca by Napoleon among other well-known masters. The painting depicts Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, Saint Elizabeth and John the Baptist as master figures who appear weight foreque dark background. This enviable area creates two figures that are most strikingly serve against the ground with inadequate shading.
